What incredibly good news we received from student association Veritas from Utrecht. We have already reported that they raised money for our foundation in their Lustrum year. The Veritas-Lamento-fund is now a fact and it exceeds our expectations!
Lamento informs us:
"Thanks to the efforts of all our members, the many donations and collaborations, we have managed to raise a total amount of € 17,675.54 for the Learn! Foundation. This is a fantastic amount that we at Lamento are incredibly proud of. But the best part is that this amount will not be used all at once, but will be spread over five years, so that the impact of our efforts will continue to be felt in the long term.
We would like to thank everyone for their great efforts, from the volunteers who helped with the events to the donors who supported our cause. Together we have not only raised money, but also contributed to a better future for the children in Kenya. This anniversary year will remain in our memories for a long time, not only because of the fun, but especially because of the lasting impact we have made together."
From this year onwards, we will spend an amount of over € 3,500 on scholarships for five years (!). These can be scholarships for various courses:
1) secondary school
2) short vocational courses
3) medium-term vocational courses
4) higher vocational education
Our team in Kilifi Kenya, led by Jacqueline Jumbe-Kahura, makes a selection every year from all applications that we receive.
Our chair and treasurer will be in Kilifi Kenya from 1 October and will soon meet the first group of students who will finally see their dream come true with a Veritas Lamento Scholarship: going to school!
