Scholarships

In recent years, we have increasingly noticed a significant demand for scholarships for young people in our area of work. Fortunately, great progress can now be made thanks to the arrival of new donors. We are incredibly grateful for this, as it is of utmost importance that young people are given the opportunity for education. It requires a highly professional approach to map out all (vocational) training programs and align supply and demand.

On January 6th, the kick-off event took place for the new cohort of students receiving scholarships through the Learn! Foundation. The Kenya team organized a day in a spacious setting (Makuti Village in Kilifi), where all the young people were given information about how we monitor their studies and how we will guide them when necessary. Much attention was given to the uncertain factors in their lives, such as poverty, lack of food, insecurity, and the resulting risks of exposure to alcohol, drugs, and easy ways to make money. This is a growing issue in Kilifi as well. Education on these matters remains crucial, and we will continue to provide it.

Of course, there was also a focus on "enjoying your youth," making friends, being responsible for the progress of your studies, and how Learn! Foundation will support them in this.

It was a wonderful kick-off, with food and drinks for everyone (just that alone was a celebration for the students). The boarding school students each received a well-stocked bag with items such as shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, sanitary pads, underwear, tissues, shoe polish, etc. On behalf of all the young people, a huge "ASANTE SANA" to all the donors:

heartRoba, Youth Care Fund, Lamento/Veritas—without you, this would not have been possible.

The group of trainees (13 tailoringschool) was not present that day; they are being supported separately on their path to self-employment through the 'Ticket to School' project.

The photos provide a lovely impression of the atmosphere! Thanks to the Kenya team.
